Biography
Marjo Meijer (Kruiningen 1951) grew up on one of the islands in the south west of the Netherlands. She studied medicine, lectured general practice at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and had her own family practice in Amsterdam. Meanwhile she was active in the lesbian, gay and feminist movements, and chaired the international board of Mama Cash, the first international fund created to support women’s rights. She started her arts education in 2000 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She graduated with an installation of snapshots and a series about reproductions found on hotel room walls.
